Damming the Hardytown Run created this charming little lake to provide ice for the Seguine family store which served the community from the 1890s to 1954. Today we can still see an old foundation just below the dam. A bridge takes you across the dam, and the trail is well marked. To the right the path winds through a conifer forest toward a marshy area where the stream enters the lake. Continue on the trail to make a circle back to the dam. The path is approximately one mile. If you take the path from the bridge to the left, you will travel through a mixed hardwood forest to the adjacent Seven Pines Park.
Depending on the season, all along the trail you can spot wildflowers and evidence of wildlife. Enjoy the birdsong and the quiet, or cast a line in the Lake for the recently stocked trout.
Part of the Monroe County Open Space Forever Green initiative this Preserve is approximately 65 acres which protects water quality, wildlife habitat and outdoor recreation.
